We believe in making things the old fashioned way: fresh, homemade, from scratch and off the farm. We offer a large variety of simple, delicious fresh-baked breads and homemade spreads, made with homegrown or local ingredients when possible.
I learned as a young boy that helping in the kitchen meant that I got to sample the food while we worked. I learned to cook from my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who made real food from scratch, using fresh, local ingredients from their gardens. That stuck with me, so it's how I like to do it today.
We started Esters Farm in 2007 as a hobby when I tried baking sourdough - just enough for family and friends. I joined the Bounty of the Barrens to share my sourdough and encourage local, healthy eating.
I got requests for additional types of breads, so I added new items regularly, including quick breads, sourdough pizza crusts and artisan breads. As my customer base grew, I started baking every day, selling at local markets and through local CSAs, roadside stands and restaurants.
We expanded our garden, added a small orchard and tripled our blackberry patch, allowing me to use more items directly from our farm, using organic practices. We also partnered with local farmers to supply us with additional safe, local fruits and vegetables.
Today, we offer over 50 types of breads, including my original sourdough, pizza crusts and a variety of artisan and quick breads, as well as fresh, homemade spreads, including chicken salad, pimento cheese, hummus, tuna and more. We also cater events of all sizes and deliver homemade lunch specials to the Glasgow area.
We support the local economy, encourage healthy eating and provide great-tasting, quality food that people feel good about eating.
